Modern skyblock 3 is a brand new skyblock style modpack for 1.12, It's one of the first packs to make use of game stages, which in this pack is unlocked by completing quests, when you unlock a new chapter, you also unlock quests where you can claim the console command that unlocks the next gamestage, thus unlocking unavailable items.
With this type of gating you can make a progression pack without ever tweaking a single recipe.
The pack also have a kitchensink mode and a gated mode, the gated mode also involves game stages, but you have to hand in some items from the current chapter to get to the next stage.
